School starts at 9:25amAttendance Policy

Regular attendance at school is critical to your child's learning and is closely monitored by the school. The Public Instruction Act of 1987 states that all children between the ages of 6 years and 15 years are expected to attend school each day that the school is open for instruction unless a justifiable reason for absence arises.

Justifiable reasons are listed as sickness, visits to medical practitioners, family holidays, misadventure, unforeseen events, domestic necessity etc.

Absences from school

It is a requirement of the Department of Education and Training that a note be sent to the school explaining each absence, whether for part of a day, a whole day or longer. These notes are an essential part of our attendance monitoring procedures and are retained by the school for perusal by appropriate Departmental officers.

Late Arrival/Early Departure

Children must go to the office for a late note if they arrive at school after 9:25am. Wherever possible they should be accompanied by a parent to explain the reasons for late arrival.

Similarly, all persons wishing to pick up their children early should report to the school office to sign the attendance register prior to visiting the classroom.

Supervision Outside School Hours

Parents are advised that there is no rostered supervision of students by teachers before 8:55am or after 3:30pm in the afternoon. School staff members cannot be held responsible for any injuries etc sustained by children who happen to be in the school grounds outside of school hours. Children are therefore NOT encouraged to be at school before or after these times unless in the company of a responsible adult or participating in approved extra curricular activities which are supervised by adults such as Gifted and Talented Enrichment programs or extra sport training.
